last week

several things happened...

"crocodile hunter", steve irwin, died while filming a documentary. he was attacked by a stingray.

my paper on cluster evolution was accepted and posted on the web.

chien-ming wang, luckily avoided a loss last week, won over the orioles and is now in tie with santana for most victories in the major league.

people started a sit-in, lead by ming-te shih, in front of the presidential office in taipei. they demanded an immediate resignation from the president. i sincerely hope their wish can come true.

and one of my dearest friends fell in love...am truely happy for him!

first time at magellan

so far, had not much luck with 6.5m telescopes...

in '03, i spent 6 nights at mmt, a 6.5m telescope in mt. hopkins, arizona.
the first 5 nights were overcast.
it cleared up the last night, but was too humid to open.

right now am at las campanas, home to the twin magellan telescopes.
this is the 7th night.
it was totally clear the first 6.
but not this one.
another overcast night...
the second night assigned to me in this run.
